The rich and storied history of Hamilton Aggie football as one of the Top Ten winningest programs in the State of Alabama transcends to an every-Friday night cultural event in Hamilton, or wherever the Aggies are playing. The Hamilton Aggies are a perennial powerhouse in football in Northwest Alabama, and Aggie fans are known to be among the most passionate, dedicated, and devoted fans in Alabama high school football. You will typically find that even at “away” games, the Aggie fans will outnumber the home fans, traveling many miles to see their beloved Aggies play.
Friday nights in the fall in Hamilton mean excitement and pageantry. The Hamilton Aggie Band is known throughout Northwest Alabama as a top-tier marching band, and is the recipient of best in show and superior ratings at almost every competition in which they participate. Cheerleaders lead the infamous student section known as the “Dawg Pound” throughout the games in cheering the Aggies on to victory.
When playing the Hamilton Aggies, you will see a total team effort, not only from the Aggies themselves, but also from the band, cheerleaders, and fans. Most Fridays in the fall you will know it is game day by simply taking a stroll through any Hamilton business, where you will see employees sporting their maroon and white Aggie "gear."
It’s really not true that Hamilton rolls up its streets on Friday nights when the lights are on at Sargent Stadium, but you will find the downtown area filled with cars but no people. Simply listen for a moment or two and you will find all the people. You will hear the whistles, cheers, and music coming from the stadium. Yes, it’s Friday night in Hamilton, and the lights are on.
